Penang Youth Development Corporation (PYDC), which is a state agency that works towards the transformation of Penang into an advanced and progressive society through the promotion of youth development, organised and hosted an online forum titled "Career Sharing: Unlock Your Future" on 25 Apr 2020. The Special Guest was the YB Soon Lip Chee, Penang State Exco for Youth and Sports, and moderated by Dr Gwee Sai Ling, the General Manager of PYDC. There were 3 invited guests, Henry Tye (Cloud Solution & Digital Marketing), Mohd. Fauzi Nordin (Training, Coaching & Consultancy) and Coach K (Coach, Logistician & Entrepreneur) from Wisdom Woods.
The forum started with the 3 invited speakers sharing their experiences about how they ventured into their current careers. They went on to discuss about the current employment market, in light of IR4.0, trade war between China and US and Covid-19.
Subsequently, the speakers discussed the issue of youth unemployment and its phenomena for the past 5 years in Malaysia, followed by lengthy sharing on:
- How can youth prepare themselves to enhance their employability, especially during this MCO at home;
- What are the markets or industries that offer job or business opportunities amidst the current economic condition, in general and for youth;
- What can the authorities do to tackle unemployment in general and for youth in specific; and
- Some statistics of current global economic trend.
